What is the History of Orange Festival?

The tale of the Orange Festival traces back to its debut in 1975. This vibrant event unfolded across three days, set within the Roman Theatre in Orange, France, from August 15th to 17th. Marketed as the equivalent of “the French Woodstock,” it magnetized an estimated crowd of 100,000 attendees. Remarkably, this spectacle was the brainchild of two youthful individuals, Jean-Louis Foulquier and Guy Bonnet, who were merely 21 years old at the time.

Elevated to an esteemed status in France’s musical chronicles, the Orange Festival stood tall alongside other significant festivals like Rock en Seine. Its location in Orange, Vaucluse, France, lends the festival its name and unique vibe.
